Description

"My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past; The rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; The time of the singing [of birds] is come, And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land;
The fig-tree ripeneth her green figs, And the vines are in blossom; They give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, In the covert of the steep place, Let me see thy countenance, Let me hear thy voice; For sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely."
-Canticles-
a beautiful quote suggested by a friend.

There is a young woman, waiting, contemplating the light, playing by herself in an old, deserted house.
I don't know why.
She may knows that the outside world is an illusion and that it doesn't matter staying there or going out.
She even may be an illusion herself.
What I know is that she isn't sad at all, life is perfect has it is.

hello, sorry for the wait!

Here is my non-expert, semi-artistic critique of your photo. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>

To begin: I am a sucker for monochrome, urban-exploration, and urban decay-type photos, and this one covers all those bases. It is an image that upon first viewing, provokes thoughts and emotions in the viewer.

When I first looked at this, I was intrigued by the juxtaposed imagery: A seemingly liberated figure in a decaying building. It came across as both happy and sad at the same time- raising further questions to think about. "Why is this person all alone in a decaying room?" "Why do they seem so free?" And then I thought: Maybe, it's representative of that state of childlike innocence we all wish to recapture. Past days of secret knocks, passwords, and hidden fortresses. Box forts, block towers, and finding a place to call your own. Being free from the constraints of the stringent standards imposed on us by societal norms.
I find that any image that can provoke this number of internal questions represents great vision on the part of the artist.

In terms of composition, this image is well presented. The model, as well as the piles of debris fall within the rule of thirds- clearly drawing the eye to the subject, while using the debris as foreground interest. The lighting is also captured quite well, hiding the identity/details of the model and leaving the viewer to contemplate their gestures and pose rather than assigning a pre-concieved opinion based on other details.

I am also glad that you chose monochrome for this piece. I find that monochrome lets you see the shapes, contours and expression of a piece moreso than if you had the distraction of colour. It forces you to contemplate what the model is doing, rather than what's on the floor, or what they're wearing etc.

Overall, an interesting piece that is thought provoking and emotive.

Thank you for sharing your vision- and showing us a bit of how the world looks through your eyes!
